Finding Totally Free Foreclosure Listings

In order to find homes that have been foreclosed, you need to check out foreclosure listings. These listings are available to the public, but not all are totally free foreclosure listings. When looking on the internet, you need to use caution when accessing information on sites listing “free” foreclosure listings. Many of these sites advertize that you can get the information for free…until you read the fine print. They provide a limited time free trial period. You can access than as many times as you want to during the trial period for free. If you do not cancel your subscription before the limited time period expires, your credit card will automatically be charged. When taking advantage of these free offers, don’t register for the sites that require that you enter your credit card information upon registration.
There are also many sources where you can find totally free foreclosure listings. One of these is on the HUD (US Department of Housing and Urban Development) web sites. These sites offer totally free foreclosure listings that are now owned by the government and HUD. These houses were insured by FHA loans that were foreclosed. You can usually receive below value prices on houses because the government is just looking to recover the loan amount. There are also many incentive programs that are provided for HUD houses that could save you up to 50% off the asking price.
Another resource for finding totally free foreclosure listings is to check with the REO departments in banks. This department handles the real estate that the bank has for sale that it acquired through foreclosure. By making contacts within this department, you can gain access to foreclosure information before it is known to the general public. This is also a great way to save additionally in the purchase of your house. The bank is usually looking to regain the amount that was still owed on the mortgage when it went into foreclosure. Many times this is well below the property’s value.
Real estate agencies are another great resource for finding totally free foreclosure listings. Many agents will list their foreclosure listings among their regular listings, making it difficult to distinguish between the two. When working with an agent, they will be able to access the information and come up with totally free foreclosure listings that contain only foreclosures. Real estate agents are a valuable resource when determining an area that a foreclosure is located. They are very familiar with the area where they work and will be able to provide valuable information about the communities that you are looking into.
